Move a site without a maintenance window.
The transfer happens while your current site keeps serving traffic. DNS is the last step, not the first, so there is no window where visitors see a half-migrated site.

Install the plugin on the site you have now
It works on any host. The plugin opens a one-time authorised channel back to WPShift — you never hand over your current host's credentials.

Pick where it lands
Choose an existing WPShift server or provision a new one. The destination is prepared with its own system user, database and PHP version before anything transfers.

The transfer runs in the background
Database, uploads, plugins and themes, streamed in chunks so a large media library does not time out. Your live site stays up and serving the whole time.

Check it on a staging URL
The imported copy gets a temporary hostname. Click through it, run your own checks, break it if you want. Nothing public has changed yet.

Move DNS when you are ready
This is the only step with any visible effect, and you choose when it happens. Point the A record at the new server and issue the certificate.
Your site stays up
Nothing is removed from your current host. If you change your mind after the DNS change, point the record back.
No credentials handed over
The plugin authorises a single scoped transfer. We never ask for your existing host's control panel or SSH login.
Large libraries survive
Uploads transfer in chunks with resume, so a 40 GB media folder is a long job rather than a failed one.
